Preparing for the Way

 This blog is a projected itinerary of our journey from Le Puy to Saint jean pied de Port along the Camino. 

5 friends will meet up in Lyon and drive to Le Puy where we will start the Way.  Typically this rout takes about 50 days to complete. We are planning on skipping ahead to various spots along the way making the trip in just 18 days , then will travel back along the Camino in 4 days returning to Lyon to fly home.  

As we come across some of the spots we would like to highlight along the way I will add them on to those days so we will know to watch for them .  Then as we travel the route, we will update the blog each day with our own photos, thought's for the day and maps of what we actually walked .  so this is very much in process and is mainly here to help us communicate with each other the plans for the journey .  

We are happy to have you follow along with us, and even leave some comments of encouragement along the way . 

Sept 30

Peg will be in Paris for a few days with her son then meet Julie and I when we fly into Paris from Kyrgyzstan

We will meet at the hotel 

 Kim and Paul will have their son drop them off at the 

hotelF1 Lyon Bourgoin-Jallieu

in Lyon where we will meet up with them on OCT 1

Oct 1

6:00 am on Oct 1 , John Julie and Peg will head to the train station a little early and will have breakfast there if we have time .. then at 6:55 we will board the train for Lyon.  Once in Lyon we will pick up the Van  we have rented . and head for the hotel where we will meet up with Kim and Paul .  Once we get them we will do some grocery shopping and also find a decathlon store if anyone needs some polls . 

Oct 2

This day we will venture from Lyon to the beginning of our Camino , just steps from the Cathedral in Le Puy 

This is a beautiful 3 bedroom Home with lots of charm 

 

Oct 3

 On the morning of Oct 3, we will walk out of Le Puy starting at the Cathedral and heading toward Chanaleilles. 

we will be staying here Oct 3, and Oct 4

Oct 5 and 6

On the 5th we will drive on to Golinhac where we will stay for two more nights .

Oct 7-11

The nights of 7 to 11 we will move ahead to Saint -Sulpice . this is in the middle of the Cele varient . 

Here we will spend the next 4 days walking and exploring what some say is the most interesting and beautiful locations of this Way.

Oct 11,12,13

Day 11 we move along 2 1/2 hours by car ( 36 hours on foot) to a must see location of Condom France . The home of the Three Muskateers 

Here we will spend thre nights exploring and walking along the way 

 

Oct 14-15

1 1/2 hours down the road from Condom we will come to the village or Miramont Sensancq where we will stay for another 2 nights .   This will be our last stop before reaching Saint Jean pied de port. 

 

Oct 16--17

Just a couple hours down the road is the village of Caro , just a few km from the town of Saint Jean pied de port .  This marks both the end of our Camino nd the beginning of the french way , another 800km on to Santiago.   

We will stay here for a couple of nights to give time to walk into the town and then possibaly on to the fist stage of the French way Camino de Santiago .. up into Pyrenees Mountains. 

 

Oct 18

 On day 18 we begin ou trip back to Lyon, this trip takes aprox 10 hours.  We want to be with in 1 hour of the airport / train station on our last night , so that will leave us with three days of 3 hours a peace .. This will give us 3 to 4 hours of walking then three hours of driving and then time to explore along the way places and things we may have missed on the way down,  

Our first stop will be to the city of Agen .  this will be one of the bigger cities we will be staying in on the journey . it will give us a chance to explore come city life , with a apartement just one block out of the main tourist area . 

Oct 19

 On the morning of the 19 we will do a couple hours walking from Agen then move on to Brommat .  The journey brings us back through the city of Figeac and the caves .
